USD/JPY strategy, use a form of Martingale strategy, a money management system applied to trading.

It is based on the theory of mean reversion and the assumption that, eventually, a losing streak must reverse.

Core Mechanism

The fundamental rule of the Martingale strategy is a negative progression system:

Start with a small, initial trade size.
After a loss, the trader increases the size of the next trade.
This doubling continues after each consecutive loss.
The goal is that a single successful trade will be large enough to recover all previous losses in the sequence, plus generate a profit equal to the initial stake.
After a winning trade, the trader resets the trade size back to the initial small amount.

Major Risks and Drawbacks (The "Risk of Ruin")

While the Martingale system can be consistently profitable in the short term, it is considered a higher risk strategy with a negative mathematical expectation.

Mitigation – Rather than double the LOT sizes, the strategy builds using LOT sizes that are conventional, the TPs are adjusted accordingly and in times of particularly sharp market movements, the timing of the trades are increased to help mitigate against higher-than-normal LOT sizes.

Exponential Losses: The biggest danger is the risk of ruin due to exponential losses. Even a short losing streak can quickly require an unmanageably large amount of capital to double the next trade size.

Need for Unlimited Capital: The strategy only guarantees success in theory if the trader has unlimited capital and there are no limits on trade size (which is not true in real trading).

Monte Carlo Method

The Monte Carlo method involves running the same simulation multiple times with small random variations. A higher number of repetitions increases the statistical significance of the results.

In the context of backtesting, a simple list of trades is usually used, but the order in which trades occurred in the past is relatively random.

While simply reshuffling the order of trades won't change the final profit, it can significantly change the drawdown. For example, a 10% drawdown could become a 30% drawdown just by changing the order of trades.

Monte Carlo analysis involves a program reshuffling the trades hundreds of times to determine the best, worst, and average drawdown achieved during these random executions. This provides a statistical basis for what to expect in the future.
